Bus Accidents questions

Straight answers. Each state's rules live on its own page.

How long do I have to file a claim against a city bus in your state?

Much less time than a normal crash. Claims against public transit agencies require a written notice of claim long before the lawsuit deadline, often within 90 days. Missing that window can end your case, so call right away.

I fell when the bus stopped short in your state. Is that a case?

It can be. Bus operators must drive with the care a common carrier owes its passengers. A stop that is unusually violent, beyond the normal jerks of city driving, can support a claim, especially with onboard video and other passengers as witnesses. We request the video before it is erased.

Are charter and tour buses in your state treated differently?

Yes. Private operators are not covered by government notice rules, and ordinary deadlines apply. Their commercial insurance is the source of recovery.
